Your data and privacy
What happens to the records you keep here, in plain words.
Your own records
Your sales, stock, products and locations are there to run your business. Your team sees what its role allows, and each record stays with its business and location.
The shared picture
Taking part is how the service works: every active business takes part.
- Qualifying data from your business contributes to aggregated, anonymised market intelligence.
- Approved commercial use of that aggregated, anonymised intelligence is part of how Retail Data Co-Op works.
- Raw store-level transaction data is not sold.
- Nothing is shown to anyone, shops included, until enough shops take part and privacy safeguards are met.
Earned Points
Earned Points recognise the contribution your business makes. They are intended to help decide each business’s share of the benefits the network creates, under reward programmes Retail Data Co-Op declares. No programme is funded or running yet, and points do not have a fixed cash value.
Taking your records with you
Owners and admins can download the sales as a spreadsheet, or every record, at any time, also after closing the business. You do not have to redeem anything first.
Leaving
Closing your business account is how you stop participating. Deleting eligible business data is a separate request, subject to the law that applies and to records that must be kept.
Feedback you send
Feedback is optional and starts with you. The form lists what is sent with it before you send. We never collect passwords, business records, screenshots, your location or your contacts through it, and a staff member’s report is not shown to the business owner. We email you about a report only if you ask us to, and you can take that back.
This page describes how the service works today. It is not yet a full legal privacy notice: the final wording for each country is still under review.
